About Cutter :: A Legacy of Success

William P. Cutter founded Cutter Flying Service Inc., in 1928 to serve a fledgling aviation community. The company survived the Great Depression, and, at the outbreak of World War II, became major pilot training facility for the United States military. In addition to basic flight training, many pilots were trained for glider operations, and the U.S. Navy designated Cutter as a Naval Air Training School as part of the Civilian Pilot Training Program (CPTP).
In 1947, the company began its long-standing affiliation with Beech Aircraft Corporation. This move only seemed natural. Cutter Aviation remained a dealer for Beechcraft until 2009 when the manufacturer converted to factory-direct sales, but the Cutter legacy of 62 years of Beechcraft sales excellence remained. Cutter Aviation became the dealer for new Piper Aircraft for the state of Texas as Texas Piper in 2004 and also is a dealer for Daher-Socata TBM850 for Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. in 2010, Cutter Aviation became the Southwestern U.S. sales dealership for American Champion Aircraft.
Established originally at Albuquerque's West Mesa Airport, Cutter Flying Service opened it's doors in Albuquerque in 1928. Later moving to Albuquerque International Airport, the civilian side of Kirtland Air Force Base, Cutter Flying Service became Cutter Aviation to define its wider offering of services. Expanding West, Cutter Aviation, Inc. located at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, first opened its doors in 1959, later becoming the headquarters for the company in the 1980's. Our El Paso, TX facility opened in 1982, our Phoenix-Deer Valley facility opened in 1997, our San Antonio facility opened in 1998 and our Dallas-McKinney and Colorado Springs locations opened in 2006. The Phoenix, Deer Valley, Albuquerque, and Dallas-McKinney facilities are full-service, fixed- base operations, and El Paso and Colorado Springs provides line services for transient aircraft. Phoenix, Albuquerque, San Antonio and Dallas-McKinney offer new and pre-owned aircraft sales as well as full maintenance capabilities. As a network, Cutter Aviation offers a wide range of capabilities and quality product and service mix.
