Ingredients:
1 egg
Shortening
¼ cup milk
1 cup chopped raisins
2 pounds beef or pork, boiled and ground
1 cup chopped, green chilies
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups brown sugar
1 ½ teaspoons allspice
1 cup flour
Preparation:
- Heat 2-inches of shortening in a heavy saucepan on medium-high heat.
- Beat egg and milk in a small mixing bowl. Set aside.
- Combine meat, sugar, raisins, allspice, salt, and chili with 3 tablespoons of egg mixture.
- Form mixture into ½ inch balls. Dip balls into remaining mixture and roll in flour.
- Fry sweet, chili meat balls in hot shortening until golden. Drain on absorbent towels.
Yield: Approximately 3-4 dozen
