This easy everyday cornbread is great for making cornbread dressing.
Ingredients:
2 cups cornmeal
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar, or as desired
1 1/2 cups milk
2 large eggs
5 tablespoons butter, melted
Preparation:
- Grease a 9-inch cast iron skillet. Heat oven to 400°.
- In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and butter.
- Combine the two mixtures and stir until blended. Spoon into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center
