Cornbread – ADS

This easy everyday cornbread is great for making cornbread dressing.


2 cups cornmeal
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar, or as desired
1 1/2 cups milk
2 large eggs
5 tablespoons butter, melted


  1. Grease a 9-inch cast iron skillet. Heat oven to 400°.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and butter.
  4. Combine the two mixtures and stir until blended. Spoon into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center
